Marine Ecology (SSI)

Overview
This program provides a general understanding of marine ecology, including how organisms interact with each other and the environment, how energy flows through communities, and how ocean ecosystems are connected.

Program scope
As described by the Sailor, the course covers:

• Organism–environment interactions

• Energy flow through communities

• Links between ocean ecosystems

Structure
In-water sessions are not required for course completion.
If participants would like to complement the course with fun dives, this can be requested.

Certification outcome
Upon completion, participants earn the SSI Marine Ecology Specialty certification.
